Quotes to Consider:

Herman Hoeksema on Revelation 19: "[God’s people] must know the times ... They must above all watch, and keep the testimony of Jesus and the Word of God; and they must steadfastly refuse to worship the beast and the image of the beast. For blessed is he that watcheth and keepeth his garments! And let us be of good cheer! For our King is given us of Israel’s God. He has all power in heaven and on earth He has a Name above all names. The victory, therefore, is His, and ours through Him" (Behold He Cometh, p. 653).

Announcements (subject to God’s will):

In order to help the congregation prepare for worship, the Council asks that noise be kept to a minimum before the service begins. Also, the Council is seeking volunteers to help with greeting before the services.

"Pray one for another…" (James 5:16). Remember the Buchanans in prayer as they continue to wait for the results of Colin’s tests. Pray for those with long-term illnesses and the elderly members that they may know and confess that "my flesh and my heart faileth, but God is the strength of my heart" (Ps. 73:26). Pray for the Courtneys and Martyn McGeown while they are absent from us. Pray for those burdened with the cares of this life, that they may find encouragement in the Lord who "healeth the broken in heart," "lifteth up the meek" and "taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy" (Ps. 147:3, 6, 11). May we all learn to pray for one another in the confidence that our faithful God hears and answers prayers: "For the people shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem: thou shalt weep no more: he will be very gracious unto thee at the voice of thy cry: when he shall hear it, he will answer thee" (Isa. 30:19).

Encouraging Quotes:

"Would you be so kind as to renew my subscription to the Standard Bearer? ... The Lord always blesses me through the SB; often there is an article which is just what I need ... It has been so thrilling hearing of all the good material you are getting on the internet. It is so good also to know that people are able to listen to your sermons via computer, as they are a real lifeline to me." - W. Yorkshire

"I am pleased to let you know that I have just received the parcel of books you have sent me. I have just opened it and have had a first look at the books. Deep from my heart, I want to thank you for this great gift of yours. I am sure that these books will be of great help to me and a real blessing." - Mauritius

"Thank you very much for the book, Confessions & Church Order, which I received today. Thanks also for the extra ‘goodies’ used as packing; these will be added ‘meat’ for my studies." - Devon

"I just found your website by looking up Scottish Psalter singing ... But then I made the mistake of clicking on your ‘Audio’ link. Now I’m going to spend the next couple of days down-loading your sermons. Where am I going to find time to watch TV now?? Oh great! I just saw and clicked on your ‘Books’ link. I’ll be broke now! And now your ‘Pamphlets’ link. I hate your website! I’m going to be here forever!!! ... Thank you for making so much good material available." - Alaska, USA

"Just listened to the audio debate on women ministers. What hope is there for the Presbyterian Church when its leaders misuse Scripture to defend a false doctrine. They are denying the infallible word of God ... Praise God there are still some good men to defend the word of God against the onslaught of apostasy. But how can true believers stay in such churches? Does nobody protest? What’s happened to Protestant Ulster? They vehemently protest on political issues, but not spiritual ones." - Yorkshire

"Please pass on my thanks to whomever typed out that Abraham Kuyper tract on prayer on your website. I’ve also read Prof. Hanko’s Portraits of Faithful Saints. It was a blessing and very well written. Please pass on to him my regards. I liked especially the pages on the saints in the Middle Ages like St. Francis and Anselm." - Rep. of Ireland

"I enjoy receiving the bulletin each week along with the other e-mails you send from time to time." - Scotland

"Many thanks for your great kindness and valuable time and for the kind enclosures again which are all very interesting and profitable for free distribution. I am minded to send the one against women in church office to our pastor in view of their employing lady preachers from time to time ... Can you spare a moment to send me some gospel-centred material in Portuguese?" - London

"I would like to ask your permission to mention your church and your name as a testimony on our website that the materials we read and gathered from your website are a source of our spiritual growth, fellowship and blessings ... I also watched the DVD debate on Pentecostalism. I really appreciate that you wonderfully defend the stand of Reformed teaching." - Philippines

"Many thanks for your ministry and fellowship in Porthcawl. Continuing to appreciate the CR News. Reading again ‘God So Loved ...’ by Homer Hoeksema. Could I have a few copies for distribution?" - S. Wales

"From early experience by grace, in due submission to the Lord, I learned not to ask ‘Why’ as to His reason or right in His sovereign dealings. Yet I must confess that within the last two years it has been hard not to say to myself ‘if only’ I had heard the truth expressed by the PRC so much earlier. Is that not a true sort of lusting after that which is good? I weekly weep (inwardly, if not outwardly) when I read the week’s notices in the bulletin of precious children of the covenant being instructed in your catechism classes (another groan of ‘if only that might have been my privilege’). Oh that there had been a truly Reformed reformation settlement in England!" - Gloucestershire

"How I appreciate your fidelity in sending me the CR News every month! I send every one of your e-mails to my pastor so that he can rejoice with me. Thank you ever so much ..." - Quebec, Canada

"Please find enclosed cheque for the book When I Survey, and the remainder for the support of the website. I do appreciate the bulletins you send out each Sunday with the sermons included. I find the messages ‘spur me on,’ and sometimes rebuke." - Lancashire

"I have seen yesterday your [Pentecostalism] debate on video on your website, and I found myself enjoying it more than a football match. It was a tremendous testimony about the sufficiency of Scripture, and a shout against error! I just want to say thank you, and encourage you to keep on going. I am going to watch it again and I have it on my computer and will tell others to watch it." - Portugal
