Quotes to Consider:

Augustus Toplady: "[Good works] must and will be wrought by all who are born from above. They are the evidences of faith, and the necessary consequences of justification.—Believe in Christ for justification, and lead a bad life if you can. It is impossible. They that are of God will do the works of God" (The Complete Works of Augustus Toplady, p. 447).

Rev. George M. Ophoff: "It was necessary that Christ stress the absolute sovereignty of the movements of the Spirit of regeneration in the hearing of Nicodemus ... Christ therefore affirms that the Spirit renews, reclaims from death, whom He will. How can the will of the sinner, dead in sin and who thus does not exist spiritually, consent to being brought into being. The absurdity of it! Does a man choose to be conceived and born in the natural sense?" (Standard Bearer, vol. 13, p. 167).
